The Disadvantages of Being Shortsighted

I have been shortsighted for many years. And I don’t even know how it happened; maybe I didn’t care about my eyes when I was young enough or something like that. Being shortsighted really causes much trouble in my daily life. And one obvious sigh of being shortsighted is wearing eyeglasses.

People may think it cool to wear eyeglasses, but it is terrible actually.

To start with, people like me who are shortsighted can not do some strenuous exercise, for we can not hurt our eyes in the sports. Before I got shortsighted, I always played basketball and baseball with my friends on Friday. It was the happiest days in my childhood. But now everything has changed. All I can do is to sit at the audience seat and watch my energetic friends playing football happily. To some degree, it makes me a stranger to my old friends, because I can not join them.

And then, I can hardly see things clearly without my eyeglasses. I still remember the laughter around me and that no one came to help to find my eyeglasses when I was knocked down by someone deliberately. They were teasing me for I looked like a fool stretching out my hands to grope for my eyeglasses. They might think it was funny but for me, it was the first time to hate being shortsighted.

And at last, I think it is not convenient at all to wear eyeglasses in daily life. When I began to wear glasses, I could not adapt myself to the life with glasses. I could wash my face or take off my clothes without taking glasses down; and suddenly I knew that I had a pair of glasses on my face and needed to take them down before I did something. However it took a long time for me to remember the existence of my glasses.

As you know now, being shortsighted is inconvenient and terrible. I couldn’t stand it any more but I have no choice but to accept. Why I write here is to tell you that eyes are the most wonderful gifts given by the God and we should protect them carefully, or you will regret just like me now.
